“I was born inside the movie of my life. The visuals were before me, the audio surrounded me, the plot unfolded inevitably but not necessarily. I don’t remember how I got into the movie, but it continues to entertain me.”
I was born and raised in a small Southern California town in a sports-centric environment. While most of my childhood friends and family members were busy participating in team sports (mostly football), I found interest in the arts.
In high school I was a true drama geek with a passion for theater and writing. When I was 15, I moved with my family to Sacramento where I began attending Natomas Charter School Performing and Fine Arts Academy.
During those years, I became interested in film and film criticism. In my senior year, a one act play that I wrote and directed was produced by my school. It received audience acclaim.
After high school, I began pursuing a degree in journalism at Sacramento City College, where I also wrote for the student-run newspaper the Express. At the Express, I became the resident film critic and I served on the editorial board as Managing Editor, Features Editor and Marketing Manager.
In addition to the paper, I have also been covering social media personalities for various publications.
Currently, I am in “semi-retirement” from reporting. I am currently a PR/Social Media consultant for SCC’s office of Advancement — called the foundation.
